As with everything we do, we always keep the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in mind. The development of the new venue primarily focuses on the goals of “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”. That’s where we as Jaarbeurs can play a significant role. We want to create an open, friendly and welcoming environment for our visitors. But the building alone is not enough; we also want to make the organization more sustainable. This requires a general transition. It is about reducing food and other waste and making conscious choices for the menu in our restaurants. It is also about personnel policy, about energy and mobility and about our social involvement and partnerships – for example, we are proud to be a partner of the Prinses Máxima Centrum for paediatric oncology.
Of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, we have embraced six. The following goals are central to our promise for the future:

- Responsible consumption and production
- Climate action
- Partnerships for the goals
Bij alles wat we doen, houden we de Duurzame Ontwikkelingsdoelen van de Verenigde Naties in ons achterhoofd. Bij de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe venue gaat het vooral over de doelen ‘Duurzame steden en gemeenschappen’ en ‘Industrie, innovatie en infrastructuur’. Daar kunnen we als Jaarbeurs echt een rol in spelen. We willen een open, vriendelijke omgeving creëren, waar mensen zich prettig voelen. Maar met het gebouw alleen ben je er niet, we willen ook de organisatie verduurzamen. En daarvoor is een algehele transitie nodig. Dan gaat het over voedselverspilling tegengaan, afval verminderen en bewuste keuzes maken in de menukaart in de restaurants. Maar ook over personeelsbeleid, over energie en mobiliteit, over onze maatschappelijke betrokkenheid en partnerships – zo zijn we er trots op dat we partner mogen zijn van het Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie.
Van de 17 Sustainable Development Goals hebben we er zes omarmd. De volgende doelen staan centraal bij onze beloftes voor de toekomst:
