Minister Veldkamp and Mayor Dijksma open 54th edition Holiday Fair

Utrecht, 8 January 2025 - This morning, Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp and Utrecht Mayor Sharon Dijksma festively opened the 54th edition of the Vakantiebeurs. In the presence of more than 100 international ambassadors, hundreds of journalists and thousands of trade professionals, the mayor and minister kicked off a new tourism season. From Thursday 9 January to Sunday 12 January, a wide range of specialist travel companies, hotels and holiday destinations will be on hand at Royal Jaarbeurs to inspire visitors with travel information. Vakantiebeurs has more than 900 exhibitors this year.

Sharon Dijksma explained during the ambassadors' breakfast this morning: "As mayor of a city that values sustainability, I am proud that Utrecht can host the ambassadors' breakfast prior to the opening of Vakantiebeurs. Our city is known for its innovative character and shared responsibility for a better world. Today we invited all ambassadors to think further together and find solutions that make global impact."

Plenty of discovering, tasting and experiencing cultures
With destinations from all over the world, from culinary to family holidays: this Vakantiebeurs is all about holiday planning. Marleen Rompen, exhibition manager: "In the run-up to Vakantiebeurs, we already noticed that the Dutch are more eager to travel than ever. The enthusiasm for Vakantiebeurs is enormous. A wide range of specialist travel organisations, hotels and holiday destinations are eager to inspire visitors to go travelling this year. Vakantiebeurs is a festival with plenty of holiday experiences. From activities like the food tour, a Ferris wheel, an African Jungle adventure to culinary cooking workshops. There is something for everyone."

The 54th edition of Vakantiebeurs will take place from Wednesday 8 January to Sunday 12 January 2025. The Vakantiebeurs will be open to the public from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 January 2025.
