Charity days at Royal Jaarbeurs through the eyes of Elsje van Vuuren

Royal Jaarbeurs: the inspired, sustainable and innovative host for the whole of the Netherlands. A place where you meet, inspire, learn and grow. We'd love to tell you what's going on at Royal Jaarbeurs and the way we do things. How? By getting to know our most valuable asset: our people. Elsje van Vuuren (37) has worked for two years as a senior communications advisor in the corporate communications team at Jaarbeurs. She recently spent a day as a volunteer at the Salvation Army as part of the Charity Days at Jaarbeurs. What is it really like as a Jaarbeurs employee to step out of your daily routine and spend a day as a volunteer? We spend a morning with Elsje as she prepares bread for the homeless at the Salvation Army on Nieuwegracht in Utrecht.

Before we speak to Elsje about her role as a volunteer, she proudly talks about her position in Jaarbeurs's corporate communications team. "Every Dutch person knows Jaarbeurs. From an event, a fair, a congress, a meeting or any other spectacle. Jaarbeurs is much more than a trade fair location. To get that message across, we have to keep communicating and telling our target group what is possible with us. In particular, we want to show event organisers and event managers that we organise large-scale and small-scale conferences, events and meetings in addition to (trade) fairs. Really everything is possible."
