Utrecht, 6 August 2024 - Jochem Schut has started as Head of Hospitality at Royal Jaarbeurs. In doing so, he succeeds Bas Rietvelt, who is continuing his career on Bonaire. Schut was previously General Manager of NinetyNine Hotel Amsterdam Airport and Director of Operations at Centro Hotel Group. In the latter position, he was responsible for four hotels in the Netherlands and Germany. Jeroen van Hooff, CEO Royal Jaarbeurs: "Every year, 2.3 million people know how to find their way to Jaarbeurs. To find inspiration at a fair, dance at a company party, play sports or meet colleagues at a conference. We strive every day to unburden our visitors and customers, deliver the highest quality and offer just that little bit extra. I am convinced that Jochem, with his commercial background and his more than 20 years of experience in the international hotel industry, will make a very valuable contribution to our fine company."

Over twenty years of hospitality experience
Jochem Schut brings over twenty years of hospitality experience to his new position as Head of Hospitality at Jaarbeurs. After studying at the International Hotel School in The Hague, he began his career with chains such as NH, Eden Hotelgroup and Radisson Blu Hotels for hotels in the Netherlands, England, Russia and Georgia. Eventually, Schut was appointed General Manager for the 4* Radisson Blu Balmoral Hotel in Spa, Belgium. In 2016, Schut made the move to Edelweiss Gastro Ltd, where, as Hotel Operations Manager, he was responsible for hotel processes on ten river cruise ships on European rivers. In 2020, he became general manager at Centro Hotel Group to open the NinetyNine Hotel Amsterdam Airport. Two years later, he was asked to also manage the German NinetyNine hotels.

Sustainability as a core value
Jaarbeurs aims to be Europe's most sustainable event venue by 2030. UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, has named Jaarbeurs the winner of the UFI Sustainable Development Award 2022 for making its hospitality offering more sustainable and the way it processes food. Jaarbeurs itself provides the full catering range in all its restaurants and on site. Schut: "I am honoured to work at Jaarbeurs. Jaarbeurs is leading the event industry in the field of sustainability. With my experience in the field of certifications and initiatives from the hotel industry, I am looking forward to contributing to the realisation of the sustainability targets set. Above all, I am looking forward to working with the hospitality and hospitality team. I have been on board for a few weeks now and am impressed by the diversity that Jaarbeurs offers and the enormous enthusiasm of my new colleagues. In short, I'm looking forward to it!"
