Jaarbeurs switches to circular Rewind® carpet
Utrecht, 21 January 2022 - The Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs and carpet supplier JMT Floorcoverings are launching a sustainable partnership this month. JMT Floorcoverings is the exclusive partner in the Netherlands of Rewind®, the most sustainable type of exhibition carpet. The Jaarbeurs aims to become Europe's most sustainable conference and event venue by 2030. Exhibition carpet is one of the largest sources of waste; it is estimated that more than 100 million m² are laid and disposed of worldwide every year.
Marloes van den Berg, Chief Sustainability Officer of Jaarbeurs: "Besides stand construction and hospitality, trade fair carpet is one of the biggest opportunities for us to become climate neutral. We don't want to brush that fact under the carpet. By choosing JMT Floorcoverings as our new carpet supplier, we will be working with the most sustainable type of exhibition carpet currently available in the world. Developed by Beaulieu International Group, the Rewind® concept is the only Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver needlefelt exhibition carpet in the world. This certificate internationally recognises the high sustainability value of Rewind®: circularly designed using responsible raw materials and energy-efficient production. The main difference with previous generations of exhibition carpet is that Rewind® carpet contains no latex, and consists of only one material: this allows Rewind® to be 100% and high-quality recycled. This greatly reduces the ecological footprint of an event, and thus also the CO2 emissions. A crucial step towards a sustainable future.
