Meeting point for fans of trading card games

Are you a fan of trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece or Lorcana? Then CardCon is the place to be this autumn. During this two-day event at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht, everything revolves around cards, decks, strategy and the community that surrounds them. Whether you’re coming to collect, play, trade, learn or simply have a look around: CardCon has something for every TCG player.

Since its successful launch in 2024, CardCon has grown into a standalone event, alongside the Spellenspektakel. It forms its own distinct area on the exhibition floor, entirely dedicated to everything to do with trading card games. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming: you don’t need to be an expert to join in, but those looking to delve deeper will find plenty of scope here to take their game to the next level.

Tournaments, casual play and demonstrations

At CardCon, there are various ways to get actively involved. Spread throughout the venue, there are tournaments for a wide range of games, with options for both beginners and experienced players. Some tournaments are competitive and offer prizes, whilst others are designed simply to introduce people to the games and enjoy playing together. You can register in advance, but you can often join in on the day as well, provided there’s space available.

For those who prefer to play in a more informal setting, there are also plenty of tables available for casual play. Bring your own cards or join in with others. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, swap strategies and simply enjoy playing at your own pace.

There are also regular demonstrations of new sets or lesser-known board games. You can join in without any prior preparation and, under the guidance of experienced players or publishers, learn the rules and the basics of the game. It’s a great way to find out whether a particular game is right for you.

Tables and community

Bartering is an important part of the TCG world, and there is plenty of room for it at CardCon. At the trading tables, you can expand or complete your collection by exchanging cards with other players. There are fixed spots where you can sit quietly, browse, negotiate or just chat about your favourite decks.

In addition, CardCon is all about community. There is room to meet other players, exchange stories or get advice on deckbuilding, strategy or starting your own gaming group. Many visitors come back for the atmosphere and the meetings; the social aspect is at least as important as the game itself.

One ticket, two worlds

A CardCon ticket also gives you automatic access to the Spellenspektakel, the biggest board game event in the Netherlands. Here you will discover hundreds of gaming tables full of board and card games, role-playing games, miniatures and more. You can take part in demos, tournaments and workshops, and of course buy games from specialised shops. A valuable extra if you like to explore your gaming world a little further.

Practical information

CardCon takes place on Saturday and Sunday, simultaneously with the Spellenspektakel in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. For many tournaments: full = full, so advance registration is recommended.

Whether you are an avid player, just starting out or just curious about the world of trading card games: you are welcome at CardCon. Come along, play along and discover all that this lively and creative form of gaming has to offer.
