Metabolic disorders: the deadliest diseases affecting children in the Netherlands. Every day, a child is born with a metabolic disorder, and one in four of these children will not reach adulthood. Research is the only path to treatment and a future. That is why, on 8 November 2026, Metakids is organising the Metakids Team Challenge in the heart of Utrecht: a large-scale obstacle challenge in which participants work together to overcome physical and mental hurdles whilst raising as much money as possible for life-saving research. The focus is not on speed, but on persevering together.
On 8 November, the centre of Utrecht will be transformed into one huge, challenging obstacle course. The route runs through the heart of the city and features 10 obstacles centred on teamwork and perseverance. The event isn’t about speed, but about persevering together – exactly what families living with a metabolic disorder, as well as doctors and researchers working towards breakthroughs every day, do on a daily basis. Join a team and raise money together for children with a metabolic disorder. For example, you can join the teams led by various influencers such as Cha Chi Versaci, Estelle Hanneman, Wesly Bronkhorst or Tom Schimmelpennink. Would you rather start your own team? That’s an option too, of course.
Get involved, make a difference to society and give children a future. Register now to take part in this challenge. Have a look at www.metakidsteamchallenge.nl
