Utrecht, 5 November 2024 - Last week, Royal Jaarbeurs was all about creative hobbying during KreaDoe. The largest do-it-yourself (DIY) festival in the Benelux rounded off extremely successfully with almost 20 per cent more visitors than the previous edition. With an impressive number of more than 53,700 visitors and a festival that was buzzing with energy, inspiration, workshops, demonstrations and meetings with popular creative influencers, Jaarbeurs looks back on an above-expected successful fair. Not only did KreaDoe showcase visitors' creativity, the event also raised a record amount for the Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology.
Marleen Rompen, exhibition manager KreaDoe, speaks with pride about the well-attended DIY festival: "This edition is proof of the growing popularity of KreaDoe, especially among young people. It was seen as the creative outing of this autumn holiday. The atmosphere was great and the energy at the festival was palpable which resulted in many positive reactions from our visitors and exhibitors."
Extra festive 35th edition unprecedented success
KreaDoe celebrated its 35th anniversary last week. For 35 years, the event has been innovating and moving with the times. This edition, for instance, gave visitors their first taste of 3D printers and sublimation: a technique for printing designs on fabric. It also collaborated with popular influencers and creative experts such as CreaChick, Robèrt van Beckhoven, Jill Schirnhofer and Paperfuel who demonstrated the latest trends and techniques in workshops. One of the visitors shared, "I had a wonderful time wandering around, doing lots of workshops and getting wonderfully inspired in the KreaDoe theatre." Exhibitors also look back with satisfaction. Exhibitor Irene van Zuthem of Studio Ins & Outs: "This edition felt extra festive on all sides. It is always nice to be able to show your products to such a large and enthusiastic audience. Together with Canon, we were able to offer visitors and customers a great experience. We look back on another incredibly fun KreaDoe and will definitely be there again in April." Exhibitor Monique Volkers of DV Candles also enjoyed: "KreaDoe, the party of the year. Fantastic organisation and visitors."
Highest donation amount ever for Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology
A special highlight during the 35th edition was the now famous bingo for the Princess Máxima Centre for Pediatric Oncology. As a partner for many years, Jaarbeurs has been committed to the Máxima's mission: to cure every child with cancer with optimal quality of life. KreaDoe raised over 17,000 euros for the research hospital. Marleen Rompen: "It is so nice to see that our visitors collectively made a huge impact by raising an even higher amount than last year for the Prinses Máxima Centre." The amount raised from the bingo and donations from the webshop, among other things, contribute to daily activities for the children and families at the Princess Máxima Centre. Nienke Beek, responsible for Corporate Partnerships at the Prinses Máxima Centrum Foundation: "We are very grateful for the support and sense of commitment from the visitors of Jaarbeurs and Kreadoe. Great that such a wonderful donation amount was raised for the mission of the Máxima. Together we make a difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this."
The new date for KreaDoe is known, Wednesday 22 October to Sunday 26 October 2025. Visitors will not have to wait long, as there will be another special edition of the KreaDoe Spring Festival from Friday 11 April to Sunday 13 April 2025.
