First BouwBeurs Ladies Lunch in Royal Jaarbeurs

Utrecht, 23 January 2023 - Royal Jaarbeurs is introducing the first BouwBeurs Ladies Lunch. On 8 February, professional women from the construction and installation sector will come together in the so-called BouwBeurs Café and share their knowledge and experiences as women in construction. Construction needs women to build the future together. With that, the lunch is a must for all women in construction, from the tradeswoman wearing work boots on the construction site to the construction woman standing on the ladder in people's homes. One of the participants of the Ladies Lunch is plumber and TikTok star Iris van Liempt: "Ever since I was little, I had a dream of becoming a construction worker. Quite unique in the industry which is mostly dominated by men. I find it super valuable to get to know women who are going through the same thing as me." Another participant, also known from the NPO programme Women Who Build, is crane operator Jessica Bruintjes. "I think it's important for us construction women to connect and support each other. Together we are strong," said Jessica Bruintjes.

An afternoon entirely dedicated to women
For five days from Monday 6 to Friday 10 February, Utrecht will be dominated by innovation, sustainability, collaboration and the future-proofing of construction. After the biennial BouwBeurs had to skip once in 2021 because of corona, the event is back stronger than ever this year. Joyce van de Hoef, BouwBeurs exhibition manager: "Diversity, inclusion and shared impact. From this perspective, there is still a world to be won in construction. There are great ambitions within the sector and that requires cooperation and connection. So too with and between women working in construction. We still notice that the construction and installation sector is dominated by men and pays too little attention to construction women. We are therefore immensely proud that, for the first time at the BouwBeurs, we are organising the BouwBeurs Ladies Lunch. Not 'one of the guys' for a while, but ladies among themselves. The enthusiasm is great and there are still places available."
