In one of our coolest venues, the Polar, GLORY presented the upcoming showdown of their heavyweight champion. Several hundred journalists and invited guests physically attended. They were able to ask questions to 'the King' and his challenger, Antonio Plazibat. But the event was also live to media and fans worldwide. The announced fight, as well as Rico's injury, already made headlines on news sites during the press conference.

The presentation on the red carpet, the press conference itself and the 1-on-1 interviews afterwards: everything went off without a hitch. Neelke Kok, PR Manager at GLORY Kickboxing, looks back with satisfaction: "We were looking for a central location in the country, easily accessible from Schiphol Airport. I already knew the Jaarbeurs well and was confident we could switch quickly and easily in Utrecht. We succeeded. In the end, what matters most is what the press and guests think. They were very enthusiastic about the beautiful location and look back on it with satisfaction. That same evening, the presenter in the NOS Sportjournaal called our press conference 'a slick show'. That's what we do it for."

Account manager Myrthe Dekker is also proud of the event: "It is not the first international press conference in the Jaarbeurs, but a media event always gives a special dynamic. It is important to be as flexible as possible in preparation and during execution. We were able to arrange everything in a very short space of time. The time difference with the clients in the US made that even more challenging. Together with our partner Heuvelman, the Videoland team and, last but not least, the people of our client GLORY, we worked quickly and are happy with a great performance!"

A key element in its organisation was its confidentiality - that the event was going to take place at all had to be kept quiet until the last moment. Myrthe: "That doesn't happen very often, that you have to prepare something in silence. But we are certainly used to organising events in confidence, if the client asks for it. Even governments sometimes ask us to do that. Our clients should expect that discretion."

The news about Rico's knee broke around the world late this afternoon. The King of Kickboxing balks at it. He apologises to his opponent and to his fans, even though he can't do much about it himself. Antonio Plazibat hopes for Rico's speedy recovery so they can meet in the ring soon. And no, he is not going to focus on this weakness of his opponent. The men receive a standing ovation from the venue for their sportsmanship. While everyone can look back on a successful meeting, the champions as well as the fans are eagerly looking forward to the sporting encounter of both men. We wish them both the best of luck.
