GEVEL 2022 marks a new beginning

Utrecht, 26 October 2021 - The Jaarbeurs in Utrecht will host GEVEL 2022 from 8 to 10 February 2022. The largest live event for the facade industry marks a new beginning in more ways than one. Not only does the event have a larger format, it is also the first time the industry can come together again on this scale. GEVEL 2022 is themed 'Inception', which translates as 'start, beginning, idea'. Registration is now open.

Every two years, exhibitors and visitors gather at GEVEL to share their fascination with the building envelope, and exchange knowledge and experience in the craftsmanship of building envelope design and engineering. In February 2022, those doors will open for the first time in Utrecht: in two halls of the Jaarbeurs, GEVEL 2022 offers a varied range of participating companies and institutions, an intensive and inspiring content programme and many framing exhibitions and activities.

The GEVEL team is currently busy recording the participants: large and small players in the facade industry, from established names to inspiring start-ups. Behind the scenes, they are busy working on the programme for the three days in February, with exhibitions, video presentations and lectures in two theatres. The innovation theatre will bring a programme of substantive lectures from exhibitors as well as educational institutes and industry associations.

Inception translated into practice

The centrally located GEVEL Arena is the stage for three GEVEL ambassadors. Three architectural firms have been working on translating the 'Inception' theme into a programme since early 2021. UNStudio from Amsterdam (www.unstudio.com) opens on Tuesday 8 February with an international perspective on material innovation, climate and new energy sources. With Toko Fuze from Rotterdam (www.tokofuze.nl), the programme on Wednesday 9 February focuses on collaboration, society and co-creation with a high degree of circularity. Vakwerk architects from Delft (www.vakwerkarchitecten.nl) sees architecture - especially in relation to the theme Inception - as Gesammtkunstwerk. This will take shape on Thursday 10 February on stage and on the floor through a broad perspective on the field of architecture.

A floor plan to structure or surprise

"Visitors will experience it as an inspiration labyrinth: at every corner there is a surprise," says GEVEL's Marisa Richter. "With beautiful sightlines and a graphic floor plan, GEVEL will be an experience." For visitors who visit all the stands in a structured way, the floor plan gives a foothold. For others, who prefer to get lost and be guided by what they see, it is a feast of discovery. The letters and numbers GEVEL 2022 have been translated into the floor plan by architect Marco Romano to create a unique trade fair layout.

Every idea is welcome

More information on participants, the programme, ambassadors and framing activities will be available at www.gevel-online.nl in the near future. Visitors can also register here. The GEVEL team is happy to discuss ideas for possible participation in the event: whether it's a place on the exhibition floor, a lecture or an organised group visit. Richter: "What is certain is that with the new format of GEVEL, no one will go home without a new idea or new inspiration. The facade industry and the ambassadors of GEVEL are going to surprise everyone, that is already certain."
