This week, from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 October, the Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs takes place in Utrecht. The largest camping fair in the Netherlands. An edition full of camping innovations. This year, for instance, there will be a complete trailer tent boulevard with dozens of models. As a result, there will be more folding trailers and tent trailers than ever at the Netherlands' biggest camping fair.

Leo Diepemaat, president of trade association KCI (Camping & Caravan Industry): "Folding trailers are hugely popular. In 2019, we saw an 11 per cent increase in sales. In 2020 even 24 per cent and for this year we expect the same increase again. As a result, the Netherlands now has some 124,600 folding trailers."

Folding trailer camping solution for electric cars
Ease of set-up, an adventurous look and sleeping comfort make the folding trailer an affordable replacement for the caravan or motorhome. "Buyers also cite sleeping under tent cloth as an argument for purchase," states Leo Diepemaat, "Back to the primal feeling of camping, but on a good mattress. Another advantage is the low weight: even the smallest passenger cars can tow a folding trailer. The low weight also makes the folding trailer a great camping solution for electrically powered cars. For the increasingly green car fleet in the Netherlands, this makes the tent trailer a great alternative."

Nine international brands
The latest models of trailer tents and tent trailers will be on display at Vouwwagen- en Tenttrailer Wereld, a boulevard with nine brands making an international contribution: from Dutch brands Alpenkreuzer, Campooz, Holtkamper, Smitveld and TakeOff to German Campwerk, Danish Camp-let and French brands Trigano and Cabanon. In addition to looking and comparing, visitors can engage in a 'princess-on-the-pea' bed test where they can help set up their favourite model themselves. A unique collaboration between the brands will result in a competition for fair visitors, with the winner being able to set off for a week with a trailer tent of their choice.
