The Jaarbeurs in Utrecht has decided to cancel the fairs that were to take place in the hall complex this weekend. It concerns the Collectors' Fair and the Mega Record and CD Fair. The Jaarbeurs is thereby anticipating decisions by the cabinet, which is expected to announce tonight that events may no longer take place from Saturday evening.
On this basis, the Jaarbeurs no longer considers it responsible to allow both exhibitions on Saturday, with an expected eight to ten thousand visitors, to go ahead. Scheduled meetings and conferences can take place as normal for the time being. CEO of the Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs, Albert Arp: "It is a difficult balancing act, because many visitors and exhibitors from home and abroad have been looking forward to these fairs. But we feel it is our responsibility to take this decision now. Safety comes first at the Jaarbeurs. Both fairs do not lend themselves to being converted to 1.5-metre variants at this short notice. We therefore want to use the time built in between the national government announcing the tightened safety measures and going into effect to responsibly phase out both exhibitions. Therefore, we will no longer open for visitors." Consultations will be held with exhibitors and the fair organisers to find the best possible settlement and a possible alternative date. As soon as it becomes clear what other measures by the cabinet will impact events at the Jaarbeurs, the organisers will take additional measures.
