Utrecht organisations work together for more sustainable and local food

21 March 2024 Jaarbeurs signed the covenant 'Together we eat Utrecht more beautifully'. An initiative of the Province of Utrecht, together with 17 different Utrecht organisations, we are committed to local and sustainable food. With this cooperation, we encourage healthy and sustainable food from the short chain, and thus eating products from the region, in Utrecht company restaurants. The aim of the covenant is to take steps together, to stimulate the desired agricultural and food transition in the province.

Menno Overtoom, Director Venue & Operations Royal Jaarbeurs: "Jaarbeurs has the ambition to be the most sustainable event organiser and facilitator in Europe by 2030. We do this in the full breadth of all our business activities: exhibition set-up, traffic, logistics and also catering. We are progressive in our catering and working on making everything to do with food more sustainable: product choice, preventing waste and offering vegetarian alternatives. We can be proud of the products from 'the Utrecht countryside', it just doesn't get any fresher! And so we participate. For a good example and out of conviction."
