Utrecht, 25 October 2023 - From 10 to 14 January 2024, the very first edition of the Dutch Travel Week will take place in the heart of the Netherlands, Utrecht. The Dutch Travel Week is a new, multi-day event focusing on the (international) world of travel. Jeroen van Hooff, CEO Royal Jaarbeurs: "The Dutch Travel Week consists of a week full of activities for travel professionals and travel enthusiasts including the 53rd edition of the Vakantiebeurs, the ANVR New Year's Meeting, the Travel Trade Day and the Travel Talent Event for students of tourism colleges. During Dutch Travel Week, we connect the entire travel sector in terms of both leisure and business tourism."

Dutch Travel Week authority for travel sector
For more than 50 years, the Dutch have started their orientation day at the Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht. Hundreds of thousand visitors, thousands of trade professionals, hundreds of journalists and dozens of international ambassadors flock to Jaarbeurs's largest consumer fair every year. Jeroen van Hooff, CEO Royal Jaarbeurs: "The Vakantiebeurs is traditionally seen as the kick-off of a new travel year. Several conferences and activities are organised around the fair each year for travel professionals. To avoid industry peers running into each other again at many different events in just a few days, we are joining forces with Utrecht Marketing, the ANVR and Reiswerk. This way, we bring all target groups together in Utrecht. This will make the city the centre of and for the travel industry for one week a year."

Week full of events for travel lovers and travel professionals
Jaarbeurs is working with Utrecht Marketing to put extra effort into enthusing visitors to visit the city during Dutch Travel Week. Cor Jansen, director of Utrecht Marketing: "The Dutch Travel Week is a great opportunity for Utrecht, because together with Jaarbeurs and entrepreneurs in the city, we enthuse visitors and international travel professionals to go into the city, stay a night and get to know Utrecht even better.

ANVR is also actively involved in Dutch Travel Week. The ANVR's ALV and New Year's reception will move to Jaarbeurs. This makes the reception on 8 January 2024 the official kick-off of the Dutch Travel Week. Frank Oostdam, director ANVR: "The Dutch Travel Week provides plenty of travel inspiration and the opportunity for travellers to seek personal advice from our accredited travel companies. An excellent opportunity for travellers to get their bearings and fix their desired trip or holiday in time."

Dutch Travel Week also offers opportunities for young professionals from the travel industry. For example, Reiswerk is organising the Travel Talent Event. "We are introducing new talent to the travel industry and thus hope to enthuse students for a job in this dynamic and innovative industry. From their own experiences, the young professionals give an insight into working in the travel industry, the challenges it faces and the various job opportunities in travel."

Dutch Travel Week

The Dutch Travel Week is the largest event for the travel industry in the Netherlands. From 2024, the Vakantiebeurs will be part of the Dutch Travel Week. The Vakantiebeurs will be held from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 January. The fair will be open daily from 10am to 5pm. On Friday evening, the fair will be open until 20.00 with a relation event.
