On Friday 19 August 2022, Jaarbeurs was the official starting location of La Vuelta Holanda. Like Jaarbeurs, La Vuelta has sustainability high on its agenda. In organising the event, we made sustainable decisions regarding catering, waste separation and the use of materials.
VIP Hospitality
Right next to the start, VIP guests could enjoy the cycling spectacle. A predominantly vegetarian menu was served and we used sustainable palm leaf plates, stainless steel cutlery, glassware and biodegradable cups.
Corporate branding
We launched the sustainable campaign 'sprinting towards sustainability' ahead of the launch to spread our sustainable message.
Catering at Jaarbeursplein and Hall 1
There were several food trucks on the Jaarbeursplein. Here, we used compostable cardboard and napkins. Drinks were served in refundable PET bottles. The bottles could be handed in and we donated the proceeds of the deposit to the Princess Máxima Centre.
Waste disposal
At each catering point, waste was separated into three ways. Separation bins were also placed for visitors.
