Utrecht, 6 January 2022 - On Tuesday 11 January, the online Travel Congress will take place from the Jaarbeurs Studio in Utrecht.
In December 2021, the Jaarbeurs had to decide to convert the annual knowledge event for travel professionals to an online edition.
Meanwhile, there is a strong programme with leading speakers, including creative entrepreneur Ron Simpson and Corendon's former marketing director Corné Hoogendoorn. Themes at the congress include the relaunch of the travel industry and sustainability. Congress participants can join discussions and ask questions via chat. Keynote Rafat Ali, CEO and founder of travel news site Skift, will provide a session on 'The Megatrends Affecting Travel In 2022 & Beyond' via a livestream.
The travel industry is in the starting blocks, but how can we soon regain consumer trust and what strategies are we deploying to do so? How will travel companies and destinations deal with it?
What is the value of tourism and what does it deliver to residents the visitors and businesses? Several sessions address these questions. Corné Hoogendoorn and keynote speaker Ron Simpson address these questions, among others.
2022 will be the year of the reboot, but travel needs to become more sustainable at the same time.
The nature of the tourism sector is complex; it has an impact on the climate, but it also has the potential to influence positive change. Purpose-driven organisations, new business models, investing in human capital, disruptive technologies: these are the topics of constant debate in the sector.
Speakers such as Anouschka Trauschke (Tours that Matters / Reinvent Tourism), Coen de Ruiter (Greenchoice) and Lowe Blom (Aerodynamic Engineer, Solar Team Eindhoven) have sustainability at the heart of their sessions.
There will also be a talk show on rebuilding the travel industry led by presenter Rens de Jong. Table guests are Frank Oostdam (Chairman/Director, ANVR), Jeroen Klijs (Professor Social Impacts of Tourism at Breda University of Applied Sciences), Coen de Ruiter (Managing Director Greenchoice), Corine Jansen (Chief Listening Officer of JoConnect) and Arjan Kers (Managing Director TUI Netherlands).
You can register for the Travel Congress at https://www.travelcongress.nl/. A ticket costs €145. The complete programme can also be found on this website. Tickets for partners or media can be requested via Thecla Amoureus.
Travel Congress and Vakantiebeurs are the Royal Jaarbeurs's own events.
