Sustainability is high on our agenda. Our ambition is to be the most sustainable organiser and facilitator of trade fairs and events in Europe by 2030. We highlight some of our initiatives for you here.
Your event is worth a tree
For every conference, event, trade fair or meeting, Jaarbeurs donates a tree to Trees for All. Around the world, Trees for All has forest planting projects for the benefit of a better climate, more biodiversity and healthy living conditions. Last year, Jaarbeurs donated over 3,000 additional trees in honour of Trees for All's 25th anniversary.
A special goodie bag
Jaarbeurs is a partner of the Princess Máxima Centre for Paediatric Oncology and the Helen Dowling Institute, which provides psychological care for people with cancer and their loved ones. We also have strong ties with JINC, an organisation fighting for equal opportunities for young people towards the labour market, and Academie Spelderholt, a place where young people with disabilities learn, live and work.
Nynke Moorman, sustainability advisor at Jaarbeurs: "During Momentus Illuminate Conference, one of our guest events, instead of a goodie bag, visitors were given five tokens with a donation attached for one of our partners. The amount previously spent on merchandise is now donated to charity. Less stuff and supporting a good cause: a win-win situation!"
A second life
We seek a second life for old materials. Last year, for instance, the Beatrix Theatre was renovated and all seats in the auditorium were replaced. More than 350 of these chairs were still in good condition and were donated to the Beatrix Theatre in Moengo in Suriname.
Sustainable stand
We offer exhibitors at trade fairs the opportunity to choose a sustainable exhibition stand that includes chairs made from recycled PET bottles and carpet made from sustainable materials.
