Jannick Warnier, Project Manager at UC Belgium beams as he talks about the luxury event: 'The Supernova convention centre and the theme fitted together seamlessly.'

Nothing is as closely associated with emotion and personal expression as a perfume. No matter how descriptive you try to put it into words, the right experience trumps all. And they know this all too well at full-service agency UC Belgium. Their requirements for the product launch of Yves Saint Laurent's new men's fragrance were therefore not mild: ultimate experience down to the smallest details.

Jannick says: 'Experience was really the most important thing for us. This event was organised for the perfumery owners in the Netherlands where they were explained the core of the perfume and how it was developed. We worked with different experience zones. For instance, we had an ingredients corner, where we exhibited the main ingredients of the perfume. And also a refillability booth; where it was shown how the perfume is refillable and how that works. There was also a photobooth where visitors could take photos with both the flacon and Austin Butler, the face of MYSLF. The two were shopped into the photo on the spot. The guests were truly immersed in the MYSLF world.'

The event for perfumery owners was organised three times in the Netherlands and Belgium. Organisers therefore also had to find three locations. An important factor was being able to tie in with the theme 'mirror', which symbolised self-expression. Jannick: 'That worked out particularly well at the Jaarbeurs Supernova conference centre. After all, the venue literally has mirrors hanging from the ceiling.' Other factors were accessibility and parking facilities. Jannick: 'Jaarbeurs is next to public transport, there are enough parking spaces and the route is clearly signposted from the motorway. In addition, it has a very nice presentation room. It is equipped with perfect sound and a large presentation screen. Those are just the assets of Jaarbeurs.'

Jannick is still glad they chose Jaarbeurs to hold their first launch. Not only did convention centre Supernova lend itself perfectly to the luxurious event, the helpfulness and friendliness of the team also scored points. 'Of course these are things that every event venue tries, but not everyone succeeds. A friendly person who helps you along and thinks for yourself is really pleasant to work with. In terms of catering, Jaarbeurs thought along very proactively. They noticed during the event that all the decoration was black. Except for the plates on which the food was served. They therefore changed all the white plates to black crockery last minute so that it was completely in keeping with the theme'.

When asked what else he considers an important feature of an event venue, he mentioned flexibility. 'We had decided fairly last minute to add an extra show with lights and smoke. Fleur, our contact person, framed and guided that very clearly. She then passed this on to the audiovisual partner. Everything we asked for was there. Even though it was not initially included in the initial request. Jaarbeurs handled this flexibly and was able to switch quickly.' It was the first time for Jannick to organise an event at Jaarbeurs. And based on the past event, it doesn't stop there: 'We organise a lot of fairs in the Netherlands, so I asked for the contact details of the person in charge of this within Jaarbeurs. As far as we are concerned, we will definitely work together more often!'
