Jaarbeurs uses cookies for an optimal website experience, to analyse the use of our websites enabling sharing of social media content and showing targeted advertisements (if applicable).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, tablet or mobile phone through a Jaarbeurs website and are read when you use our websites. Below you will find an explanation of the different types of cookies placed by Jaarbeurs.
Functional cookies
Jaarbeurs uses a number of functional cookies. These allow us to store data for you that improve your experience on the websites. The functional cookies that we place through our various website have for example the purpose of
- remembering your preferences, such as the language you have chosen, if applicable
- enabling access registration
Analytical cookies
To be able to properly adapt our website to visitors' needs and interests, we use analytical cookies.
Jaarbeurs uses Google Analytics from Google Inc ("Google"). Through Google Analytics, we gain insight into how our website is used. This involves user statistics such as the number of different visitors, the pages that are frequently visited and the average duration of a visit. In doing so, we follow the privacy-friendly Google Analytics set-up guide from the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This means, among other things, that we have instructed Google to remove the last three digits of your IP address (so that it is difficult to trace the IP address back to a specific visitor) and that we have disabled the default settings to share data with Google.
In addition, Jaarbeurs has entered into a processing agreement with Google. We do not use any other Google services in conjunction with the Google Analytics cookies. The limited information shared with Google through the use of Google Analytics is transferred to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. To ensure that processing by Google maintains an equivalent level of protection, we take necessary and appropriate measures.
Furthermore, Jaarbeurs uses cookies and technology from Hotjar to better understand the browsing behaviour of users of our websites so that we can optimise our services. Through Hotjar, we can visualise how you as a user navigate through our websites, including how long you visit our websites, which links you click, etc. For example, during your visit to the website, your IP address (anonymised), screen size, device type, browser information, geographical location (country only) and preferred language to display the website to you are collected. Hotjar is privacy-friendly so that, for example, the text boxes you fill in are anonymised. Hotjar stores the collected information for the benefit of Jaarbeurs in the form of a user profile, which is not directly traceable to you. The collected data can be linked to any feedback or surveys, provided you give permission. Jaarbeurs has a processing agreement with Hotjar and is contractually prohibited from selling the data collected on behalf of Jaarbeurs.
Social media cookies
Social media cookies make it possible to easily share a page via social media or to display social content about a topic (e.g. tweets). The social media for which cookies may be set include Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Facebook.
Advertising cookies
Jaarbeurs uses cookies (where applicable) to prevent you from seeing the same advertisement too often. Jaarbeurs also uses cookies that allow us to show you banners after your visit to our site. You can find out more about these types of banners and how to grant or withdraw consent on the Your online choices site. You will also find an information icon in these banners that also allows you to stop allowing these banners.
