Car rental company Hertz opens branch at Royal Jaarbeurs  

Utrecht, 11 September 2023 – Car hire company Hertz has teamed up with Royal Jaarbeurs to open a new branch in the heart of the city of Utrecht. Hertz Utrecht Jaarbeurs is located in the entrance hall of the exhibition and convention centre and within walking distance of Utrecht’s central railway station. 

“Jaarbeurs was established over 105 years ago in Utrecht to stimulate trade and business,” comments Royal Jaarbeurs CEO Jeroen van Hooff: “This remains the cornerstone of Royal Jaarbeurs over a century later. I am delighted that a successful company like Hertz has chosen to open a new branch at our strategic location next to central station. The combination of renting a car and travelling by train offers an excellent eco-friendly alternative to car ownership. What’s more, Hertz has one of the largest EV fleets in Europe. This seamlessly matches our carbon neutrality goals as well as the strategy and ambition of Jaarbeurs to become Europe’s most sustainable event organiser and facilitator.” 

Hertz Benelux general manager Eric Siewers adds: “Hertz used to have a branch on the Jaarbeursplein but had to move to another location when the square was redesigned in 2011. We have long held the wish to return to this ideal position opposite Central Station. The new Beurskwartier urban neighborhood currently being built around the Jaarbeurs is aimed at residents who prefer to walk, bike, use public transport and car share rather than owning their own vehicle. It is an environmentally friendly choice to drive a rental or shared car, and Hertz is continuously investing in expanding its EV fleet. Buying more electric cars serves as a key element in the further greening of our company.”  

Hertz Utrecht Jaarbeurs was opened on 11 September 2023.
