The Municipality of Utrecht will introduce a zero-emission zone on 1 January 2025 aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. The zone is defined as an area where only zero-emission commercial vehicles and trucks are allowed to drive. In addition, the current environmental zone for diesel cars will become stricter on the same date.
As Jaarbeurs is located within both the zero-emission zone and environmental zone, parking or loading/unloading on our premises will no longer be permitted if your vehicle does not meet the admission requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
yes. Private individuals who own a van or truck that they never use for business purposes can apply for an exemption to enter zero-emission zones.
Environmental zones:
Fourteen municipalities in the Netherlands currently have an environmental zone for the most polluting diesel vehicles. These are areas in a city where certain vehicles are not allowed to drive because their emissions are deemed to be harmful to the environment. While the criteria depend on the emission class concerned, older vehicles are normally more polluting than newer ones.
Zero-emission zones:
Only vehicles that emit no harmful substances, such as EVs and hydrogen cars, will eventually be allowed into these zones in the future. There will usually be a transitional arrangement for certain types of vehicles. Click here for more (in Dutch) on the current rules. Use the license plate checker to see how long your van or truck will continue to be allowed to drive in zero-emission zones.
Yes. Vans and trucks running on petrol, gas or other fossil fuels must also comply with the zero-emission zone access rules. For vans, the vehicle's emission class is considered, while the date of first registration (DET in Dutch) is used for trucks. Find out the emission class and DET using your license plate on the RDW website (in Dutch ).
